SSC - Fiction: Short Story

Awakening

Song by: Evansence
This song fic was written by my pal Kumiko. She knew that I was a songfic fan, and that I think her otaku senshi, Sailor Arctic is super cool, so she wrote this little gem for my entertainment. I’ve decided to share it with you all on the short story page! Enjoy!

Arctic's soul followed Kiyoshi through the snow. She had been following him since he had put her back into her ice coffin. She had to, she wouldn't be able to stand being alone. She thread her hand into his and looked up at his face.

how can you see into my eyes like open doors
leading you down into my core
where I’ve become so numb without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold

As if sensing that she was there, he looked down at where her eyes were, he didn't see anything, but Arctic wished that he could.

until you find it there and lead it back home

Before she realized it, they were in the cryogenisis chamber. Her body was clearly visible through the ice. Arctic's soul was able to pull itself away from Kiyoshi. She floated to the opposite side of the coffin so that she could see his face. He started talking to her about times that they had spent together, both in Elysion and Tokyo.

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

Kiyoshi was looking at her body's face. Arctic looked down at the wound that had caused her demise, and with her new eyes, she saw that the wound was healing. It looked like it had been healing for a while. Excitement leapt in her soul, she was coming back.

now that I know what I’m without
you can't just leave me
breathe into me and make me real
bring me to life

She grabbed hold of Kiyoshi's arm willing him to look at the wound, but he turned and began walking away. He slipped out of Arctic's frail grasp, and she screamed at him to stop, but her pleas went unheard. She tried to chase after him, but her awakening body had a hold of her, she couldn't move.

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

She screamed louder praying that Kiyoshi would hear her cries, but he kept walking deaf to her misery.

frozen inside without your touch without your love darling only you are the life among the dead

She crumpled to the frozen ground consumed in her tears. ''I have to catch him," she said, "I have to show him what's happening."

all this time I can't believe I couldn't see
kept in the dark but you were there in front of me
I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems
got to open my eyes to everything
without a thought without a voice without a soul
don't let me die here
there must be something more
bring me to life

She got to her feet and stared down at her lifeless face. She pounded her invisible hands on the top of the coffin shouting at her body. "Wake Up! Wake up and go after him! What are you waiting for!?"

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

She turned around and saw that Kiyoshi was fading into the snow. She turned back and pounded harder. She screamed with all of her unnatural might. "WAKE UP!!!" Suddenly, her wound finished healing and Arctic felt a hard pull in her chest. She realized that what she had felt was the first beat of her heart. She felt it again, and was pulled closer to her body.

(Bring me to life) I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside

She felt the pull and was forced inside her body. She only had a second to settle.

(Bring me to life)

Arctic gasped filling her lungs with life giving air, her eyes shot open and she was able to see through the top of her coffin.
